Government invests £20 million in offshore wind supply chain

Offshore wind farms in the UK are set to receive £20 million to strengthen the supply chain capability and capacity.

The money, which is provided by the Regional Growth Fund, will be used to set up a new advisory service which will offer expert support and advice to companies looking to grow within the sector. (more…)

Waitrose shortens supply chain by opening frozen beef unit

Waitrose has opened one of the UK’s shortest supermarket supply chains in Dovecote Park Estate, with the addition of a new frozen beef unit added to its network.

The new facility has enabled the supermarket chain to produce all of its beef products on site and it now has no reliance on other third party companies supplying and packaging its meat, meaning that the supply chain is shortened, with the distance between farm and shelf greatly reduced. (more…)

DHL launches new temperature-sensitive air freight service
